CENTRE FOR DISTANCE EDUCATION
AT PALACKY UNIVERSITY IN OLOMOUC (CDE)
Experience/Expertise:
The Centre has been since 1996 a part of the network of 40 centres in
12 Central-East European countries. As an establishment integrated into
the Multi-Country PHARE Programme, the Centre is consistently oriented
towards the open and distance learning, developing and mediating especially
the general strategy, methodology and logistics of pilot distance learning
programs. The Centre closely co-operates with workplaces of the Information
Centre of Palacký University, especially with the Audio-Visual Centre,
the Centre of IT and the Publishing House of the University. This inter-connection
of workplaces equipped with a state-of-the-arts technologies permits a
consistent orientation towards modern learning, information and communication
technologies. The Centre for Distance Education closely co-operates with
the individual faculties of Palacký University and with other training
organisations.
Role:
In the proposed project ELCIT the Centre for Distance Education at Palacky
University will have the role of the promoter co-ordinating the activities
of the project and, in close co-operation with NTS, UK using its innovative
PC- based technology to develop the multimedia and software content of
the ELCIT programme and review and assess the applied methodological approach.
It will also supervise two Czech vocational training schools in the project
implementation phase. The Centre will be the focus of the dissemination
process.
