[ SUMMARY ] [ TARGET GROUP ] [ NEEDS ] [ AIMS ] [ INNOVATION PROPOSED ] [ EXPECTED RESULTS ] |
The proposed project Interactive ICT-based Programme To Train and Learn English Language Competences for Instructors of Technical Subjects at Initial Vocational Training Schools (abbr. ELCIT) has identified a need the fulfilment of which can be of considerable benefit to the primary group of the instructors of the selected technical subjects in vocational training schools and at the same time can have significant consequences for initial vocational school apprentices who will objectively increase their potential of transnational employment.
ELCIT will be a CD-ROM and the Internet based distance learning multimedia interactive programme including a hardcopy of key elements of the program (consisting of module practice books, self-assessment logbook, and professional language learning aids) for instructors of technical subjects at initial vocational training schools to learn basic professional English language skills of the technical subjects they train.
The Programme ELCIT will focus both on major fields of locksmiths and bricklayers training with a large number of apprentices and also on relatively "smaller" fields, such as hairdressers and seamstresses training, that may be relevant for specific disadvantaged territories or social groups (namely women) with a limited choice of or access to initial vocational training.
The proposed two year project ELCIT will add the dimension of the basic professional language competence of initial vocational training schools instructors of technical subjects with young people in initial vocational training schools being the major benefactor, easing their integration into the European labour market. The instructors acquiring the specific professional language competences will be able to cascade them within the primary target group of the young people in initial vocational training when training apprentices' professional skills.
The Programme ELCIT will push the process of innovation further applying the existing potential of ICT to the new tasks and thus possibly setting a model to follow, enhancing the language competences in initial vocational training and creating potential for new transnational employment possibilities, with the institutions involved in the partnership disseminating the Programme ELCIT within the linguistically relevant initial vocational school systems.
